Sowbug

Anyone have a good sowbug pattern that they wouldn't mind sharing?

That is similar to what I use to tie. I haven't tied one in a long time. I used to use a lead wrap around the shank under the dubbing and then squeeze it down lightly so that sowbug would be wider.

Also I generally used darker colors and would not use wire, but instead thread for the rib.

Thanks for the link! In my research so far, I'm finding out that there are a lot of variations.

Many people use "sowbug" and "scud" interchangeably. That is one reason for the many variations. Technically they are different and look quite different.

Several examples of scuds and some sowbugs are available on "YouTube.com". YouTube is a great source for instructional fly tying videos.
