Default Alaska/saltwater..... 8wt or 9wt?

Looks like I'm headed to Alaska this summer for a few weeks of fishing, so time for a new rod. Would like to purchase a rod that I can use in Alaska for salmon and then for saltwater when I get back and have the chance. Most of what I read and some of what I've been told, has me leaning towards an 8wt, but others have suggested a 9wt. The reason for the 9wt being wind, log jams, crowds on the Kenai etc. I've never cast anything over a 5wt, so I don't have a clue. Thought I would pick your brains yet again....... The only thing I do know is that I like the Hydros and Guru for this set up........ now what weight?
