Despite some very rough weather Saturday, I fished one of my favorite trout streams in NC. Decent weather before noon, but things went downhill in the afternoon hours. This was the only day I could get away for a while, so I had to intently watch the forecast and track the cold front as it progresses south. I'm a big weather geek, so I was doing a bit of storm chasing/dodging on the way home...
The wild brookies are starting to wake up in these high elevations (upwards of 5,000 ASL). The first fish lazily met my dry without a splash or disturbance in the water and slowly descended back down as I softly set the hook.
