The weather was beautiful this weekend so i had the chance to take a few of my buddies to the park this weekend and teach them the art of fly fishing
we headed to one of my favorite streams in the green briar area and after a short hike to our destination we began the chore of "slaying" brookies in mass quantities ![]() They seamed to hit anything yellow..most came off a 16 yellow stimulator or a elk hair caddis...with some hitting a 16 BHPT on the drop ![]() ![]() my pal hooked up the 9" brook...prob the largest i have seen in person ![]() finally after lots of fish between the two of us, the third guy in our party caught his first fish ever on a fly rod...how many can say that their first fish on a fly was a brook? ![]() lost of these coming off the water not sure what it is any input would be helpful ![]() ![]()

That's one of my favorite stretches of water. How far did you make it upstream? Did you hike the stream back, or find the manway?
I caught 2 9 inchers up there a month back which if most def far from the norm, although I'm not complaining ![]() |

Greenbriar was the first stream I ever fished in the smokies. That was 15 years ago now. I would really love to get back in there. But until then thanks for the report and photos. Brings back alot of memories.
