Default Fire

Is there a fire in the Rich Mountain area? I've been watching the National Park Service Look Rock web cam for several days and there seems to be a fair amount of smoke in that area.

That is kind of a mystery silvercreek. Someone posted about that smoke on the look rock cam on another board i am on a couple of weeks ago. The smoke looks the same as it did then not any more or less really. However, yesterday on my way home I noticed the smoke the first time in my car from Maryville. It was rising up over chilhowee mtn looked to be in the general area of millers cove or so but hard to tell how far back. It has been aweful dry surprised it hasn't spread or got bigger since whatever it is has been burning an awefully long time now.

Confirmed it is a fire in the park. The fire is apparently in an area where the tornado damage happened earlier this year near the Beard Cane Trail. I hate that trail was wiped out I hiked the entire thing staying at both backcountry sites on it last spring it was a beautiful area. Fished Hesse Creek there too.

Thanks for the info. I've been watching the Look Rock web cam today. The time stamp says it is updating, but that cannot be true from the position of the sun.

Thanks for the info and link. The cam appears to be updating now. Right now there does not appear to be as much smoke. CD
