Default Felt vs. Sticky rubber/studded wading boots

I'm about to invest in my first pair of waders/boots and can't decide what to get. For waders I am leaning toward the Rio Gallegos from Patagonia. I decided I better buy something nice to begin with to avoid problems and I am a devout Patagonia fan so there is my reasoning. My boot choice is the Patagonia river walker, but the sole choice is a hard one. I have heard of felt soles being completely banned in some waters and there are several fishing trips on the horizon for me all over the place including the smokies, surrounding tailwaters and in different parts of the country. I have used felt and know how well it works but I have never used the sticky rubber soles. Any suggestions?
