The TVA actually has a small camping area right below the Watauga Dam (between Wilbur Dam and Watauga Dam). The sites have full hookup too and the area is paved with the excepting of right on the camping spots.
It's not a big campground but, the best of my memory, has 10-20 spots. Picnic tables fire ring, etc at each spot.

Hope this helps some.

I have also stayed at Cherokee Trails Campground. It's not bad at all and very fairly priced cabins available.

I just heard this morning that Judd has passed away, and at this time there is no more camping allowed on his farm. Really bummed right now.

Judd was a fine man, and always very friendly and inviting. He took a lot of pride in his farm, and never once turned me away from camping. I hope the new owner will consider allowing camping/fishing, but regardless my prayers go out to Judd's family.
