Default Day Trip Advice Needed

Driving to Tennessee for some much needed coldwater therapy, but have just one full day to fish when the rest of my family goes to Gatlinburg. They have agreed to drop me off in the Smokies for the day, and I had been planning to fish the Little River up from Elkmont campground. Does the trail go up enough miles to make it a worthwhile day trip, or should I have them drop me somewhere else? I know that part of Little River has browns and bows, but would I get to the brook trout waters if I went up far enough? Any advice is greatly appreciated!

there's more than enough water and trail there to keep you occupied the entire day.

If your family is going to be in the burg my choice would be to fish the WP of the Little Pigeon....one of the best places to start is the Huskey Gap trail head....a short walk down to the river and you can fish in either direction....have caught both my largest rainbow and brook trout in these waters....
