Default Living in Townsend

I know this is a little off topic, but...
My wife and I are seriously thinking about relocating to Townsend in a Year or Two. I work in East Knox, but will probably start working out of our Sevierville Store before we move. So my drive to work will be across Wears Valley and up to Chapman Hwy.
Does anyone want to share the pro's and con's that they can think of about living in Townsend?
Obviously the fishing in your backdoor is a huge pro, along with the peace and quiet except during tourist season weekends.
I am just wanting to get a few other opinions before we really start any kind of a transition.
Thanks for the advice.
-Ben

Really?? Get serious. You are joking aren't you?! There are no cons to living in Townsend. Just ask Byron. I mean, he moved here form Nashville just to live in Townsend... I wouldn't transition. ****, I'd just move.

Srsly? Don't move here...it stinks. It really does. There are snakes...and bears and skunks...and stuff. And don't forget the coyotes! There is nothing good to say about living in Townsend.

Paula

Really, it's heaven on earth...but don't tell anyone, okay?

That was a rhetorical question, right?
Con's?

I'm with Gerry...skip the transition...

I would not live anywhere else. I looked at Livingston, Montana, Bozeman and other towns where I might want to live after I sold my company in Nashville. I chose Townsend. One huge reason is the people. People are friendly here, they are the best. The people who grew up here are easy to like. I fit in. I get along with them, they get along with me. I think they will like you too since I personally know you.

The down side is: No Pharmacy. Land prices are high now. I bought in the 1980's. But I don't think you will ever lose value in your land if you buy here at least long term.

Blount County is a great place to be from. I love it here. I hope you move to Townsend. You will be happy forever.

Byron

I'm afraid that in Townsend you won't be near a Wal Mart.

But then I'm pretty sure that's a pro.

After driving through the traffic surrounding our local Wallyworld today, there's no "pretty sure" about it!

As for the rest...Townsend is a metropolis compared to downtown Cosby .

Ben,

Last night I forgot to mention the Park and trout fishing as a pro. Of course that is a given.

Charlie,

I hope we don't get one in my lifetime.

Byron

I don't think not having a Walmart would be too much of a problem. My life will go on. =)
It would be nice to move down there now, but selling a house in this market now is a little tough.

Does anyone know much about Saddleridge Subdivision? I know that most lots in there are at least 5 acres or larger.

Pro's--
Mountains in the back yard.
World Class fishing
No rush hour traffic
No walmart
Friendly people everywhere
My kids would grow up in the outdoors
I wouldn't have to drive far on the weekends to be where I wan't to be.
I can go to LRO whenever to get supplies

Con's
Longer drive to work
Farther away from family (45 min compared to 5)
high gas prices in general
I will be broke from going to LRO so much ( still not a bad thing)

You guys aren't giving an option not to move to Townsend.
I don't know how soon it will happen, but I am almost positive (95%) sure it will happen.

Keep the comments coming!
