Default Little River Outfitters

and my first trip.

Guys, I went on my first fly fishing trip this weekend. I showed up wading the river with hiking boots and a really crappy pair of waders and the combination ended up making my feet, legs and back hurt to the point that I had to stop fishing. I stopped by little river outfitters and Bill (I forget his last name, but he sounded like he wasfrom Candada or up North) helped me find an inexpensive pair of waders and felt boots from "Chota" (I think that's the name). The store owner also helped me with my tippit and float line and leader knots the next day. They knew I didn't have a lot of money and put me on some good inexpensive equipment and I caught my first brwon trout today. It was an experience that I can't describe. Unfortunately, one of my dogs is deathly sick and I had to come back to Nashville, but I know that I will be back. I don't think I could find the personal, hands on treatment at most other stores because I could tell that they really cared about my experience. Thanks to LRO and I'll definitey be back. I wish I could post a picture of that little 8" brown, it was beautiful ( I did release it for the next guy up above treetmont where the road ends..It will be much wiser and proabably grow to a decent size now!). Anyway, I had a blast and thanks to LRO for all fo their help and actual concern for my situation (low cash and new to the sport).

David,

Thank you for all the kind words about LRO. Bill Hey actually lives in Huntsville, Alabama but since he had a career in the U.S. Military he has lived everywhere around the world including Viet Nam. He moves here during our busy season and he and his wife plan to move here to live. Daniel, our partner helped you with the tippet. I'm the guy who thanked you when you walked out the door. We all appreciate you visiting our store and patronizing our business. We will never push expensive tackle on anyone. Paula and I moved here from Nashville in the early 90's. Thanks for coming in to visit. I'm glad you caught some trout though the fishing is not excellent yet. Watch the Fishing Report and you will know when it is. Catching a brown trout in the Smokies is a treat. I'm glad you had the experience. I'm sorry about your dog. Paula and I have two 14 year old Springer Spaniels. We know what you are feeling.

Byron

Byron,

Thanks. I'm not good with names, but I do remember a face. It was so nice to have such expert advice, so close at hand. I got to experience the awesome beauty of nature an it was worth the effort. Thanks again and good luck to all the fly fishermen out there!

Also, My hats off to Bill. You could tell that he just "got it." What a great person. As an Iraqi vet (13 years between active duty infantry and the national guard), I could tell he knew what it was all about: That is living life and living for the day that we are all privelaged to live! The world may get to be smaller and smaller, but I will never forget that first beautiful brown trout above Treemont. Peace.

DG
