I have never seen a good caddis hatch on Cumberland River. I use an Elk hair Caddis at times as an indicator an catch an occasional fish but most of my fish are on a #16 or #18 midge fished just off the bottom.
I dought the water being low enough in early May for any thing but streamers. |

I floated a portion of the river around Burkesville Wednesday. It was high and rolling but somewhat clear. There were a few caddis coming off, but no risers. I managed a couple browns on streamers.
I think they are pushing more water now than they were earlier in the week. |

it is caddis time now. don't look for water to be off for a while. they have 14 ft to much water in the dam now. maybe july with all the rain. caddis start in april and last into may.

Me and a couple of buddies are heading down on Derby Weekend (May 2 and 3). It's a good time to get out of Louisville.
Are streamers the way to go or should we fish something else? Looking forward to getting down there. This will be the first trip to the river.

They are probably still going to be pushing a lot of water. The forecast hasn't looked to great and they are still drawing the water down. I hope you have access to a boat.
