I live very close to the little town of Madisonville (named after James Madison); it was the staging area for Andrew Jackson - from there he crossed Lake Ponchartrain to New Orleans to defend the city. Apparently some of the "Kaintucks" as the Creoles in the city called them decided to hang around afterwards, for there are several veterans of the battle buried in the Madisonville cemetery.

Now, people down here think I'm nuts for driving 700 miles to catch small fish that, for the most part, I release....so, sanity is in the eye of the beholder.
