North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission will reward a submitting angler with a citation for anglers catching trout over the following sizes:
Wild Brown Trout 15 inches Wild Rainbow Trout 12 inches Wild Brook Trout 10 inches My question is, how many streams in the NC side have you caught a citation trout and was the citation trout a brown, rainbow or brook? |

Catch and release is actually preferred. NCWRC will give a citiation on the individual's own statement. Not even a witness is required.
I guess what I really meant to ask was how many streams in the GSMNP NC side have you (or anyone else) caught a Brook over 10" or rainbow over 12" or brown over 15." I really don't care whether anyone actually applied for the citation. I just use those numbers since they are used by NCWRC to designate a "trophy" fish. |

1- Brook trout just outside of park on NC side
That would be all for me. I guess the stream I was fishing was 30 miles from the GSMNP. |

I don't understand what you mean "will reward a submitting angler with a citation for anglers catching trout ?"
What is a submitting angler? |

I thinkhe's saying that if you catch a trout of those sizes or larger, you get a certificate to signify that you caught a "trophy fish."

North Carolina Angler Recognition Program http://www.ncwildlife.org/pg03_Fishing/pg3c1.htm
I have caught citation fish in about a 100 streams but they were all in TN. No big fish in NC, no need to come over here. All the big fish are in TN

It's a pretty neat program actually. Not sure if i have caught any citation fish inside the park, although i have caught a couple rainbows pushing 12". There is an area outside the park, about 30 miles (probably the same area brownhunter is talking about), where i have caught several brook trout over 10".

And where would that land of 10''+ brookies be? I know how a 7-8'' fights. Can't imagine a 10+'' fish!
