When I got up this morning at 3:55 AM my goal was to catch one wild trout in the Smoky's and I would be as happy as a lark. I never expected this day to turn out to be a Smoky Slam day.
IJ South it took me awhile to get to the Road Prong but thanks for the information. You are 2 for 2 on great streams so I fully expect the Straight Fork to be just as good. The RP is a wonderful stream and I can't wait to get back. The day started at daylight and on my 1st cast into a pool I officially became a true brook fan when I saw a wild one face to face. What a gorgous fish. About an hour later I had my 1st wild rainbow and we (JoeFred and I) suddenly realized that we had to leave the Road Prong for Brown trout waters. We skipped over alot of good water to finally find the trail and headed above Elkmont campground where I caught a very nice Brown to seal the deal. I did manage to take the plunge twice into the East Prong of the Little River but it was worth it. Below are the pictures. ![]() ![]() ![]()

Thanks for the report and congrats on the slam! What flies were working for you today?

Sorry I forgot the flies.
The Brook and Rainbow were caught on a #14 Yellow Stimulator and the Brow on a #14 Prince Nymph.

Brook Fan,
What an inaugural day! Congratulations and welcome to the brotherhood (and sisterhood - maybe just fisherhood) of the totally addicted. ![]()

Wow! That's great! That last one looks like he may be regulation too! Nice stuff. I wish I had done as well.

Fished Elkmont Saturday also, couldn't consistently catch fish. I did manage to catch an 8 inch bow but that was about it. I threw every fly and I thought I was pretty stealthy, but maybe it just wasn't my day.

I probably drove by you on the way to and from Treemont. I saw one hardcore guy in the rain this morning as we were leaving. We had a nice little thunderstorm.
