Default Big Creek

Did Big Creek after a decade long absence. The water level was real good and the temp was 62. We managed a couple of dozen Rainbows between us but no real size to them. Neal (pineman) said that I caught a 8" Bow but I'm not sure since the darned fish slipped out of my hand when he tried to take a picture of it. We ended our day on another stream for our evening fix. Caught another couple of dozens with a few specs mixed in. Spent half my weekly pay on gas but other than that a great day.

Only fished it three times in 14 years. Sunday was the third time. All three times I have not caught anything above 8". I'm sure someone has caught some big trout out of there but I doubt it is a serious producer of big fish inside the park. Outside the park on private property maybe.

Talking Fast On the Draw

Hans,

I am hurt by your insinuation that I wasn't enuff on the draw to get a pic of your Bigun bow. Observe below the quickest draw, well the quickest picture taker on Big Creek that particular day, LOL. Maybe LRO can hire me for a security detail. Anyway, it was nice exploring some new water and fishing one of my favorites later in the day. Here are some pics of Big Creek and Han's bow, and one of my BABY BOWS

Enjoy!

Pretty fish....everything I've read about that particular area is pretty much what y'all experienced - a lot of fish, but on the small side. Apparently it is infertile, even by Smokies standards. I would like to hike over from Cosby some time and try the upper reaches - the brookie fishing in those areas might be better.

Hans!

You pointed out the other day as we were leaving the stream that we became fishin buddies in 2003. Sory Dude, but the romance is over, LOL.

Sorta reminds me of a bit of Waylon Jennings:

"...I'm a good ol' boy, you know my momma loves me...
...but she don't understand, they keep on showing my hands...
...but not my face on tv...."
