Default Myrtle Beach

Yep, the whole famn damily is getting together for a beach vacation the week of August 18th in good ol' Myrtle Beach, SC. I couldn't be more excited (lots of sarcasm; I am a red headed, fair skinned German-Irish guy. Basically two shades darker than albino.) Not exactly beach bum material. BUT, there is a fair amount of water right there. Has to be something swimming in it. I have been given the ol' green light for fishing trip. A quick Google of the area shows a lot of guides. My question: Does anybody have a recommendation, good experience, bad experience, etc. to help me sort the wheat from the chaff, so to speak. Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

When we were checking for guides in a new area we would go down to the boat docks when the charters were due back and see who brought in the best catches. Then we would check their schedules.

We normally stay in Garden City which is just south of MB.
Capt. Dicks has some great charters that run out of their docks.
I also remember that a cable channel CSS? had a charter booked out of MB or Garden City called "deuces wild" or something referring to card playing.
They had great success and the guy seemed really nice.
Capt Dicks also rents small boats to fish in the bay. Good flounder fishing in there, and we would catch fresh shrimp in the bay side which were delicious.

Also check out Marlin Quay marina in Garden City. It runs along south Wacama (sp). Also there is great beach fishing along that street as well.

If you want to avoid the crowds then stay south, you also get some good local restaurants on the south side
Hopefully this helps, and let me know if you have any other questions
