Default Deep Creek Brown

I packed in to Deep Creek this past weekend and finally found a good fish. This brown hit one of my softhackle creations and was in a fairly small pocket about 100 feet above a nice pool. The fish tried every trick in the book and ran under several rocks before I finally subdued it in the calm waters of the pool below. I measured it against my rod and it went between 19 and 20 inches (not a true 20 incher but close). Not bad for a weekend trip...

Default Congrats David

Congratulations on a great fish, and I know you have been working hard for one of those all summer. Sure is good to see all that hard work pay off...

Plateau Angler,

That is a great fish. Nice pics of the fish. I really like fishing Deep Creek. Has some great water on the lower end. I have caugt some nice fish on this stream but nothing like that Brown... Again super job.

May God Bless You... Romans 10:9

Congratulations on a very nice fish. Is 53 still closed? I have been wanting to do a trip there but it's been closed forever.

53 is indeed still closed. I had kind of wanted to do the trip to there since its a lot shorter of a hike than going down to 54 but oh well. There wasn't much in the way of bear sign in the vicinity of 53 but back towards the ridge there were lots of fresh tracks in the trail...

Forgot to mention, if anyone goes to 54, beware the mice...they got into my bagels the first night...

David, That's a great fish!

Thanks for all of the Colorado info today as well. Hopefully we can find some of the fish you talked about...

What a HOG! That's big for the park from what I've seen.

Yeah justin and i had figured that something must be going on at 53 since it's been closed for several months now, maybe a momma bear and her cubs hanging around or something.

About the mice, i think they are the culprit of a small hole in my pack that led to another small hole in the ziploc bag that was holding my oatmeal. I hate rats!
