Default A few small fish

I was wanting to try those Brooke Trout yesterday.Me and 2 of my 3 sons the 8yr.old and the 4yr.old the 12yr.old didnt want to go.So we went up Rock Creek in Cosby the first thing I noticed was all the human sign in the creek evidently a lot of people had already tried them.We found a toy gun,a pair of sunglasses and several plastic drink bottles. That Ranger that likes to hide in the bushes needs to hide up there and catch some of those litterbugs. We fished about 2hrs. I had almost forgot how hard it is to fish those little creeks it is a jungle up there fallen trees and laurel bushes everywhere.I couldnt get my elbow and my eyeballs together so I missed about 10 small fish.Caught and released 1 chub or something wasnt a trout, 6 speckles 3"-5" inches 4 rainbows 3"-5" inches caught 1 rainbow 7 1/2" inches that we kept. All were caught on a small yellow fly. caught 108

Caught 108,

I have been curious about Rock Creek since last winter. In fact, I have a picture of that creek as my background image on my laptop. I took the picture while it was snowing in Feb. while me and Hans were hiking to Hen Wallow Falls. The stream looked great that snowy day and I been thinking about wetting a line there, but the water has been so low in the Cosby area that I figured it would be a trickle. Glad to see you were able to catch a few fish.

I haven't gone up Rock Creek, but I'm not surprised at the signs of "civilization"; my oldest found an empty bottle of shampoo in the middle of Cosby one time. One good thing - you can go up the stream, starting at the crossing of the Low Gap trail just upstream of the nature trail area, and you quickly feel wonderfully isolated. The stretch from there, all the way up to the next crossing of the trail, is very good in places - my oldest has done particularly well around the gage that you can see from the last trail crossing. You can continue fishing upstream from there, but the last time we were there (at the beginning of July), the water was getting a bit low up that high.

Default About the specs.

These Specs.or Brooke Trout are kinda new to me,since they have been legal only 2 or 3 years or so.Rock Creek,Cosby up above the campground,Indian Camp and almost all the speckle streams in the Park were closed streams. The ones that had specs.in them that you could fish specs.were Illegal to keep.I have caught a few every year but always had to release them. The first year these creeks were opened I hit several of them and caught a few limits.I hope to catch more in the future But I am a Rainbow Man.
