Default Need Advice on a Weekend Trip

The wife is going out of town next week and I need to find a place that is easy to get to and camp and fish from Nashville. I was thinking about the Elk, but the Hiwassee sounds interesting. I've been to the Hiwassee, but not the Elk. I would like to find a good place to camp and fish. If anyone knows of a place that allows dogs, that would be great. If not, I'll take what I can get. I'll be wading. Thanks for the help.

There's a nice campground in Lynchburg which is about 20 minutes from the River. There is also a campground at the Tims Ford State park that's really nice.

E-mail me and i'll send you some maps to some good spots and where to avoid. steve.w.miller@us.army.mil

Also, check the generation schedule. There's a link to it on this site under Tims Ford.

It runs out of Tims Ford near Lynchburg. It's stocked with Rainbows and Browns (not sure about brookies) and has several good access points. I believe they begin restocking in March but there are plenty of fish left from last year as most people practice catch and release. Tims Flies and Lies in Lynchburg has free printed maps to most of the access points on the Elk and the Duck as well. Rhonda will give you good advice as she is an avid fisherwoman herself and usually knows what's hot.

Let me know if you need more in the way of directions and what not!

Rhonda's e-mail is rhondapage@cafes.net
