Default Gangsta Midge

Midge pattern that is my "go to" #1 fly that to my knowledge is not on the market anywhere. Therefore I will keep it that way, unless LRO wants to sign me up on contract. HA

PS. "It mows 'em down"

Ok, the Little River thread posting rules state, "you cannot post the name of a successful fly without also posting a picture and tying instructions"

Sorry, it's in the rules so cough it up!

Default OK, here it is..........

I was born at night but it wasn't last night...sorry!

Last time I gave out a nice pattern to a fellow on the trout stream the same exact pattern was being sold about 3 weeks later at the sporting goods store off Merchants Drive (now closed) with a note on "this fly caught a 4# brown last week on the Clinch". It has also been tied my me and another person at LRO on those Saturday mornings "Daycare for Addicted Flytiers" workshops. True story. That's the Parker's pupea.

Here is my mud minnow pattern however!

I've got several patterns that I tie that i've never seen elsewhere but i want them to be a lot more successful before I sing their praises.

Next time you come to town (Fayetteville, TN ?). Let me know, and maybe we can meet up and fish somewhere, and I'll bring the flies...deal?

I can't get a picture of the Parker's right now. I loaned my digital camera out to a guy going to of all places ....Patagonia! I don't think I like him anymore.

I'm not too sure about getting a story behind the Crapadan, but the person that developed and shared the fly is Jackson Russell, here in Nashville, and he posted his secret weapon in the Trout Unlimited Newsletter about a year and a half ago. Those that have tied it and fished it really like it. I had lost my copy of that newsletter but Dr. Dick Davis, president of the Cumberland Chapter of Trout Unlimited, was kind enough to help me out with the information. Many Many Thanks Dr. Davis.

Hook - Tiemco 2457 14 - 20 with 16 seeming to be the favorite size
Thread - Olive Dun 6/0
Head - Tungsten Copper Bead 7/64
Rib - Fine Copper Wire 5 to 6 wraps
Tail - Five Olive Pheasant Tail Fiber Tips or a wispy tail of amber Darlon
Body - The remaining tail fiber butts.
Collar - Peacock Ice Dubbing

I will try to post a few pics after I get the chance to tie more of them. Right now I have 3 bamboo rods on the bench and one fiberglass and all of those need to be finished first. Hopefully, I haven't given away someones secret fly. Jack was nice enough to post the recipe and a picture in the TU Newsletter so I guess it is public information and I would like to see him get the credit for it anyway.
