Made it out yesterday looking for some white bass and stripers below a local dam, and found zero action. I guess the temps are still a bit too cold, but with a few days of 60 degree rainfall we should begin to see a change. Looking forward to some fast action on big streamers.
Spring is a wonderful time to be in East Tennessee. So many species options and so many places to go....

I went out looking for stripes and smallies yesterday also. Floated a local warm tailwater. Water temps stayed below 45 degrees all day, wind was blowing upstream so hard, it was whitecapping at times. Fished shoals and the deep water with a variety of tackle. No smallmouth or stripes (white bass) yet but did finally catch a little largemouth on a puglisi streamer. Some warm rains would sure be good for the water temps and maybe get things in gear.
maybe in a couple more weeks I'll try for them again. ![]() |

TA,
My wife and I drove over there after we left Melton Hill Saturday. It was just such a nice day to be out, I wanted to drive around. I was surprised at the lack of people fishing there too.

Yeah, it was pretty freaking windy as well. What people that were there were not hooking up either.

I fished for several hours below Melton Hill on Sunday and Monday with no action at all.

hey guys you should try my home town Loudon and fish the beach in front of Viscase. There should be some action there pretty easy casting and there are 2 drop offs between the car bridge and the guard shack. Your probly get into a mixed bag of stipper, hybrid and yellows(they tend to run small) and maybe some big skipjack aka Tennessee Tarpon. Also of note there is a warm water discharge near the guard shack.
Have a good one, No Hackle ><> |
