Now why in the world would you be happier in the last picture than the tow where you are holding a fish!

Where did you go in Ireland? Did you use guides, or just pic a spot and try your luck? What time of year were you there?

OK I went to Ireland in June. I only had 2 days to fish and the first i went guided, but the rivers were so blown out due to rain it was completely useless. Wasn't the guides fault he was great but whatcha gonna do? , So we went to a couple stocked ponds which is where I caught that fish and a bunch more...I was kinda bummed cause that ain't why i went there. Irish eyes were smilling on me though, the next day the river dropped and was still stained, the fish had to eat and lost their spookyness, and I couldn't be in a better spot, in one run on the Nire river I slayed em caught so many fat browns my arm got wore out. They were like swimming footballs, not much longer than the net but so fat the barely fit in it. I will try to scan some pics of em cause i was by myself and took the pics with a disposable camera. Did you take your own tackle or did you rent in Ireland? I am going to be in Western Ireland for a few days early fall and thought I might rent some equipment since I don't want to discuss things with TSA or have to pack more luggage. The lace where my wife and I are staying can arrange for tackle and that sounded easier, but I wanted to know what you did.

I brought all of my own stuff for that trip, and have done so throughout the USA and the Bahamas and i would not have any other way...That said in western Ireland you may be looking at a lot more Salmon fishing so if you don't have that kinda gear then why not rent it, but it can be expensive and if you are wading I would pack your waders jackets etc..Let me know how it is! enjoy the Guinness and Jameson!
