interesting video posted by one of the MTFF members of an attack on the last day of our outing this year.
I didn't carry bear spray this time, but after reading and seeing the video i will for now on! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BTCttdlJRNE |

I had saw the video earlier today. Contrary to the opinion of some animal rights groups, a coyote will attack deer, calves and colts.

They'll also attack my little dog in my own yard if I don't chase 'em off.

wow! Could it be a wolf? The photographer mentioned a red wolf.... it looks like a huge critter. If it is a coyote it is one BIG mean K9!

I live in the middle of Murfreesboro. My property is adjacent to the airport property which contains deer, turkey, and coyotes. Last year a group of coyotes trapped a deer between my truck and house and killed it. I had blood and hair on the rear driver side panel. We heard the coyotes, but just thought they were yelping. The next morning they were still eating on the deer.

I'd say wolf, way to big to be a coyote. I know they are restoring red wolfs in the Park, wasn't aware of any restoration in the National Forest, of course, have paws, will travel

red wolf restoration project was abandoned over a decade ago as a failure. pups died of parvo...wolves were trapped and taken from the park....however, there are some very large coyotes in the park and cross breeding could have occured before removal.

I hadn't thought of it, but sam may be correct that it's a hybrid. I have always heard that a wolf will hunt in a pack whereas a coyote will hunt by itself. I don't know if that true but do know a coyote will attack a calve solo.

The dogs I've seen running bears/hogs up there don't look like that...I think the breed is some type of Cur and the ones I've seen have slick coats and are fairly skinny (so they can run all day). My guess is that its a big coyote...maybe a hybrid.
