Default One Fly Challenge

for the Smoky Mnts...Has this ever been done? I was thinking that the money could be donated to a charity for widowed vets or something...Just a thought. Teams of 4 for $200? Any interest?

I would hate to see a fishing "competition" in the park.

Same here. In fact, if we want to go back to the question whether to count fish, I'm on the other side of that one too.

Another good idea for a competition that you are suggesting would be for the money to go to working on brook trout restorations throughout the park. Just a thought.

For a lot of folks a competition would defeat the purpose of going fishing.

That's an awfully big park...Besides, it would just be once a year. Doesn't really matter. I was just seeing what people thought of the idea. I don't have any way of implementingit, organizing it, or marketing it anyway. Just a bit of conversation.

BRF,I have stared at this screen trying to figure out why I would hate to see folks trying to best one another on a creek in the park and I can't find the words.

Back about 15 years ago on Cherokee lake a bass contest was held, when the go was given the boats roared off trying to beat each other to the best spots. One of the fisherman was in such a hurry that he ran over a 14 year old girl that was on a jet ski. She died.

I guess I'd just hate to see a bunch of folks in that much of hurry to catch more and bigger fish than the others on a creek full of trouts.

Does this make any sense?

All competitions that I have seen are on stocked waters............I hope it stays that way.

The idea of competitive fishing has been gone over and over many times. I just do not like it whether in the park or anywhere.
