Both are excellent reels, though I've not had any personal experience with Lamson. I can tell you that Ross makes excellent reels and has GREAT customer service.
Do yourself a favor and take a look at the Bauer reels as well. I just bought a Junior Mac and I love it for it's simplicity, reliability, and performance. Whatever you decide, definitely buy something made in the good ole USA.
