They were still tailing on Wednesday evening when I caught and landed one and had another get off. Larry caught one as well. Check out the picks from 9/30 above.

Well tailing in the high tide short grass usually is good through about the end of October. The best low tide fishing in mud flats is typically October and November. It can go into December if the weather doesn't get too cold. For me (the not boater) my season is coming to a close. I am going to try and get as much as possible in prior to the water being too cold for the crabs. I do not know offhand what the tides are doing in Charleston next weekend, but it looks like there will be fishable high tides in the afternoon. I am actually tyring to plan a trip up to the mountains that particular weekend....it has been too long since I have thrown a fly to a real trout!

Well the water levels are really good up here, which is great considering the last couple drought years. I fished the trophy section a little bit last night in Cherokee and stuck as bunch of monsters, its OK. If I were you I would target some browns next weekend they are gonna start really moving I would expect

Barry,
We decided we would be going up by Brevard instead. We will be fishing some DH waters in addition to some wild trout action in the Looking Glass, and another stream that I can't think of the name of right now that is all brook trout. I will let you know how it goes. We are leaving Thursday morning and will be back Sunday nite. John |
