Default Mingo Falls/ Big Bow

My fiance and I decided to drive across 441 to see the leaves, then we jumped up to Mingo Falls. The park waters looked pretty heavily populated with tourists trying spin reels so I figured since I was already in Cherokee I might as well try for a big stocker. I wound up snagging a 18.5 inch fat bow on a prince nymph. It had nothing on the trout I saw when I looked off the bridge in to the trophy section for the first time today, but it was my biggest trout by far. After cleaning it, cutting off the head, and cutting 2 inches off the tail to fit it in a gallon ziplock bag, the big stocker still weighed 3 pounds. Not the big park brown I want to land, but I was excited as could be to finally land a good size fish. Planning a fish fry soon, and it should make some good filets. Here are some pics of it and of Mingo Falls which is gorgeous and very easy to get to.

Nice one there, thank yo for sharing that. I want to go over there and try that trophy section sometime, may try the end of the month if possible. I would imagine the leaf peepers are getting pretty thick though now.

There were only 4 car parked along the trophy section yesterday while I was there, but 441 across the mountain would be best traveled very early before all the leaf lookers are out. I had to stop at Newfound Gap to use the restroom and didn't think I would find a parking spot. I can't wait to try the trophy section over there. I wanted in there bad yesterday, and I watched the fish take a 10 minute spell where they were taking bug off the top. It's wild seeing those big fish take topwater bugs.
