Default Scott Fibertouch

Has anyone fished this rod? I am considering buying a 7and a half foot 4WT. I have not fished a glass rod before. I am buying this for a small creek rod and would like the action to be med. to med. slow. I do not want to have a club for a creek rod. Any input would be appreciated.

The 4wt is probably the best all around Fibertouch rod. It is a great casting rod. It is not a nymphing rod but great for dry flies, small and mid size streamers and poppers for warm species.
I have the little brother of it in the 6.5ft 2wt. I have a lot of fun fishing it for bream, small bass and for casting (not dappling) dry flies on mtn streams.
They are overpriced for the components on them but you can find some good deals sometimes on used ones.

Joe C. wrote a good review on the rod a few years ago.

The 703 is probably the sweetest small stream rod that i've fished
I use a DT3 or WF 4 on it, both with great results, after all, there are no long cast.

Default Thanks

I appreciate the info. I follow the board pretty close and trust both opinions. I purchased one used today for 300. I didn't think this was a bad deal. I really like Scott rods but have no experience with this model. I was fishing an Avid 8' 4WT and really liked it. I do so much small stream fishing that I wanted to upgrade but make sure that I got a rod that I liked. It is seldom that I see the Fibertouch in a fly shop so I haven't had the chance to cast one. Hope it is as good as Grumpy and Troutman have said!

Thanks again fellas.

Thats a fair price for a one in excellent shape. If you just don't like it, let me know, I would be interested in it.

I have one in the 3wt and 4wt. I love them for small stream work, but you can also fish a little bigger water. I was fishing Cherokee the other day with my 4wt and had a blast! Super cool rod, you're gonna LOVE it.

Default Got it finally!

So the rod got here today. I cast it out in the yard and really liked what I felt. It is great for short casts. I was afraid it would be clubby feeling. It has alot of action that is perfect for the short casts I need it for. I have a Lamson Radius size 1 that carries my 4wt line right now. This reel does not fit the reel seat. Just wondering what you guys have yours matched with.

Bauers fit the Scott rods perfectly. That's all they had on their rods at the last trade show i attended
