Default A Georgia Hello...

My wife and I visited the park and Townsend last weekend for just the second time....What an awesome place. Thanks to the board here, I researched just a little and was certain to load the rod in the truck before we left. We woke up Saturday morning and it was blue cold, white snow, and smoke from the fire blowing straight up....perfect conditions for us to wet a line. Well it wasn't long or too many cast later and we had our first Smoky Mountain park trout. The setting far made up for what the trout lacked in size and our trip was made complete.

My wife and I fish the lakes and streams of Georgia and when we travel, we usually end up along the gulf somewhere searching for red's or trout. I think our travels may lead north a little more frequently as we love the beautiful resources of the national park.

On the way home I stopped by the store and purchased a copy of Casada's book and already planning our return. (in smoky mountain tradition i should drop the possessive apostrophe) If the Lord wills and the conditions are OK, I think we may return for a backpack trip around the New year. Looking forward to sharing.....

Joey

Joey--Welcome, and as you have already discovered, the Park is a placed fill with magic and mystique. One warning--return too many times and it will most assuredly lay hold of a corner of your soul as it long ago stole mine. Jim Casada

Jim is right about the hold these Mountians have on a person. I am always trying to figure a way to get up there.

Nice photo Joey and sounds like you had a great time! I can't wait to get my wife and family up there for a camping and fishing trip in early 2010.
