January 2009 was pretty brutal for fishing, and 2010 is starting out the same way. Let's try to get out there and provide some substance for this thread this month. Good luck to all.
Hope everyone has a wonderful 2010!

It is starting to be hard to get motivated to fish as cold as it is...guess I'll have to get out though and catch a fish sometime soon...

David,
This is no time to run low on motivation! Two more months and we've got 24 in a row and then the really fun fishing starts up again. ![]() Get out there and hunt 'em down, Brother!

I managed to get out some on Saturday and was handed my first skunking of the year. I'm glad to have gotten that out of my system on the first trip.
![]() I'll be up in Ohio deer hunting next weekend. My dad's been catching some fish through the ice this past week. I might have to give that a shot for my January fish. |

Or you could try to get a steelie for your first fish, however as cold as it is you might be fishing through ice there too.

now thats a first fish of the year, or just FISH OF THE YEAR! most fish i catch would be food for that thing except for a couple smallies and that would be a fight i'd pay to see.

I talked my boss into letting me off early today, and a friend Jack took me out in his boat in the Harbour River fishing for reds. I ended up catching 7 and had another that came off. Jack caught three, including the bigest at 29 inches. I picked this 27 inch fish because it was the best picture. My biggest today was a 28 incher. Not bad for January 15th, that cold front finally broke and the water temp warmed up a couple of degrees.
