In planning my spring trip, I came across this DVD, Fly fishing Great Smoky Mountains National Park:
(Year-Round Dry Fly Fishing) Looks pretty good but cost $50. Any insight on this would be greatly appreciated. |

Let me first say that I'm cheap! Personally, I would keep in touch with this mesage board for info for dry fly or any kind of fishing in the park. Ask questions. You have a wealth of information here. I would save the 50 shekels and put it in the gas tank to get to the park. BTW, a news blurb said that gas could hit 3 bucks a gallon this summer.
I have had good luck fishing with an elk hair caddis. |

I would suggest getting Ian's book instead. It's here: http://www.amazon.com/Great-Mountain...8273967&sr=8-1

Nothing against Amazon, but I would rather buy any books that I could from LRO or the Great Smoky Mountain Association,

Flyman--Amen to those sentiments. As an author, I can assure you that Amazon is no friend to writers and it is a flat-out enemy to friendly local bookstores. Those considerations, among others, are why I won't let them sell anything I personally publish, and even books I've done for commercial presses cause me great angst in that regard. Amazon wants to own the writer's soul.
In short, I really like the sentiments you express, and I can assure you that an operation such as LRO or a local bookstore has a human face; Amazon is simply a money machine. Jim Casada www.jimcasadaoutdoors.com |
