I remember reading an article years ago describing Sawyers method.I remember the author stating that Mr.Sawyer believed that pheasant tail fibers possed "special killing properties".I tie the modified American version described by flyman and have tied some with flashabou strands mixed in with the wingcase.

I would rather throw a Hare's Ear than a Pheasant Tail any day...Actually, I do most of the time...
