Default Addison Alabama

Got to be there for a week sometime in May. It is right next to the Wiliam B. Bankhead National Forest. Does anyone know of any decent small stream fly fishing available close by? Any help is appreciated.

The sipsey river runs right through bankhead and is a great little small stream. Plenty of bass and panfish. There are also several other creeks that run through the bankhead national forrest that are equally good. There should be some good popper fishing about that time.

Thanks for the info gmreeves! Is there any trout fishing in that national forest? Something similar to the streams in the Smokies or around Tellico?

Default Only one place for trout

Only trout fishing within reach will be at the Sipsey TAILWATER below the dam that impounds Smith Lake....that is probably about 45 minutes from Addison.
Info can be found:
http://www.outdooralabama.com/fishin...ithtailwaters/

To check water releases:
http://www.alabamapower.com/lakes/smith.asp
or
There is a Fly Shop on the Riverside that posts (Tenative) generation Schedules. Advise no wading during release.

By the way....they just stocked the Tailwater with 3k on 4/22

Have fun

a little too far south and west for good Southern trout fishing. But the bass and bream in bankhead would surely be worth a shot...I agree.

Yeah, the only trout fishing so to speak of in Alabama is the Sipsey tailwater but it isn't highly recommended if you are used to TN tailwaters or mountain free stoners. Good luck.
