I miss New Orleans for the same reason. The food here is terrible.
If you ever make your way out to Franklin, NC. Go to the Hot Spot gas station in the middle of town. There is a little cafe attached to it called Caffe REL. You will not be disappointed. |

I grew up here and love the food here. Country cooking like soup beans and cornbread or biscuits and gravy are wonderful to me although lots of people not from around here think its basically slop lol. In a similar story though I imagine if I moved to Texas I would be adverse to the spicy mexican food. Welcome to the forum though and to East TN Santa

I wasn't referring to local staples, more of restaurants. The restaurant selection is really pitiful. I think Knoxville is the king of the chain restaurant per capita.

Yeah good point I agree with you they are all just a bunch of chain restaurants there really isn't many that are locally owned that do local favorites or anything that good at all. Even in townsend the pickings are slim as far as good restaurants go.

Welclome! When you were at Roan Mountain, you were near Hampton Creek which is one of the revered brook trout streams in east Tennessee. You have a lot of opportunities for fly fishing- warm and cold water. Good fishing!!!
Anytime you want to talk food, contact me. One of my favorite subjects. I've had occasion to eat or live in many places all over the USA. |
