I finally got lucky. The family and I headed up to the Hiawassee to play in the river. I decided to take my rod to get the line wet and practice my casting since I'm very new to the sport. I figured what better practice than to actually get in the water. While standing out in the river and tossing a black ant toward the mouth of Towee Creek, this little guy was my first fish on a fly rod. My casting still sucks but I got something right on this one.

Congrats Ben! Something I like to do when the fishing is slow or I can't go far: Tie on a hare's ear nymph and strip it through the water like a streamer. Blue Gill and Shell Crackers go nuts for it! Keep working at it!
