Rainbow Warrior--As to whether they are steelhead or lake run rainbows, that's something only an expert could answer with DNA material from the fish. The N. C. Wildlife Resources Commission did stock steelehead in Fontana, Santeetlah, and one or two other reservoirs decades ago. As to whether they "took holt" is another matter. What is undeniable is that there are big bows of some kind in Fontna, and starting about this time of year they tend to congregate in areas near stream mouths. Most of the rst of the year they are in very deep water, and they are caught regularly near the dam using spoons, bait, and other offerings at great depths.
