Shawn, it's an acquired taste, and he's had plenty of practice to acquire it

I was not meaning it as condescending; kylemc is a tough cookie if he drinks Schafer by choice.

About how heavy a chain anchor would it take to hold a 14" wooden drift boat on the Clinch?

I think around 15-20 lbs. should hold you well on the Clinch in most cases.

Chain usually weighs around"

3/8" Links = 1.67lb/ft (buy about 10-12')
1/2" Links = 2.72lb/ft (buy about 5')

I like to buy galvanized and use galvanized bolts. You can get this at Lowes/Home Depot/ & Northern Tool. You would probably save a bit of money at Northern Tool.

-Need a Nice Galvanized eye-bolt (washers/locknut)

*I like to have my links cut in sections to dangle and maintain a tangle free setup. I think if you loop the links; that they could possible create a snag point for rocks, trees, etc. You could have them cut a 12' section in to 6 parts (2' sections). Just fold the parts and insert the bolt through the middle of each part to get the size of ball you want. Add the washer and bolt to hold.
