wading season is winding down

It is getting towards the end of the wading season. The cooler temperatures are starting to slow the action some. There are some fish still tailing though. Here are a couple that we caught on Saturday.

Those are some nice redfish, thanks for sharing. With winter starting to set in, I always think about the great trips I had flats fishing, and wishing I was there right now.

Lynn,
In the winter time I tie flies, and try and talk people in my fly fishing club with letting me get out in their flats boat with them. The winter is actually a very productive time for fishing.....you just need to fish the low tides, and you need a shallow draft boat to get to them. The fish are really schooled up, and you can sometimes find schools of hundreds of fish.

That would be correct. My favorite is still catching them in the High tide grass, but the fall/winter/spring fishing can be the most productive of all. Alot of the guys in the club only fish during this time.

Jan and Feb can be absolutely fantastic. Alot still depends on the weather, although I have seen even a 2 degree change in water temperature when it is really cold turn on the fish like you wouldn't believe.

Sounds just like trout with the reaction to the temp change.

I did manage to catch 1 24" fish and miss another red on Wednesday evening. The tide was a little late and I did't really get enough water until there was only about 1/2 an hour of light left. I think I spooked 2-3 fish on my way out but it was too dark to see anything.
