Midge? Only a guess as they come in all sizes but I'm looking at the wings.

Cant tell for sure without seeing it in person (size, etc) but it sure looks like a crane fly to me.

I don't know.... where the fish rising to them?

It reminds me of a water strider. I always wondered why I never see fish stike water striders.

Guys this was taken by a firend of mine. I am not even sure it is aquatic, but he does live less than a quarter mile from a river here in town. He said there was a swarm of them around his back deck and wanted to know what it was. I thought someone might know on this site, because I have no clue.
