I've been trying to get over there with the boat for the run. work interferes too much with my fishing time! maybe in the next couple of weeks.

Is it wadable / bank fishable at forks of the river?

Parts can be bankable from the WMA down there, but if they are schooling on the other side, you're just gonna get a lot of casting practice. The other key is current. It's been my experience that you are wasting your time if you are fishing for them when no current is being generated from the dams.

I've always fished for them on the shoals during no generation. They like the fast water. I usually put in at 3 river boat ramp and run up either the FB or the holston to the shoals and anchor or pull onto the shoal and wade. My dad and I used to do that alot when I was growing up. There are several boat ramps on the FB if you have a canoe or boat to access the shoals as the white bass migrate upstream over the next month. I haven't done it in a couple of years though, its hard to pull myself away from the bronzebacks this time of year.

How would one best get there by canoe? Which boat ramp, how far, etc?

we were in a boat under the train bridge on the south side of the holston bank...we caught them on the following
-White Grub -Little white crank bait -Popper (fly rod) -white streamer -wooley bugger the current was running kinda hard im thinkin fish fry this weekend

oh and the big ones were down deep like more than 8 ft...never caught a big on on the fly rod since i only had floating line....need some fast sink if u wanna get to them
