Clinch River: Underwater Pictures 6/30/11

Here are some recent screen captures (Pics) from some of my videos. All of these were taken on the Clinch River in the past month. This first trout is dragging around someone's broken line.

Nice; have you ever thought about setting the camera in a good pool and then fished with a nymph in front of the camera?

I believe you would learn a lot about trout nymphing behavior.... it might be interesting to see what patterns attract the most attention even if the fish don't take the fly.

You are on to something here and I can't help but think the video observations you are making will be worthy of a book or video or some other "commercial" value!

Corbo has a great idea, it would be interesting to see how an nymph fly actually acts under water. Also, to see the trout's reaction to the nymph. We might really learn something here that would benefit all of us.

A riverside "trout cam" would be pretty cool.... when a hatch comes up everyone (except me) who knows how to use the internet on a cell phone could be alerted and bolt for the river. Needless to say I would be the guy in the "flash-mob" commercial who doesn't get the message or alert!

The "perception" is that most East TN trout prefer wicked tiny nymphs so I wonder what happens if a steak drifted through the "zone" or maybe a streamer?

Had I unlimited coin..... well I spose it would be cool to install a camera underwater with a live video sent to shore so "experiments" could be conducted to determine what techniques, colors, sizes and patterns seemed to garner the most attention when there was no bug activity.

Ah; my lifelong quest for the "magic bullet fly".... course everyone knows it's an earthworm

I actually have some takes on a fly and I am working on putting a good video together that helps to illustrate different behaviors. I just wish I had a 1080p camera.

I see tons of brook trout on the Clinch. I do not think they have stocked any in the past 2-3 years...(?) I could be wrong; but, I believe I discussed this with a few of my TWRA Friends and that is what they told me...

One thing that worries me is the abundance of the spotted bass. These things are very invasive and seem to be increasing on the Clinch in numbers.

Actually, I have a pretty good fly right now that seems to be wearing them out. My problem lately is that I am running out of them from being broke off...
