Default Accomac on the Susquehanna

Spotted this at a west Knoxville Cracker Barrel restaurant. Has anyone fished the Susquehanna River? Anyone have any info on Accomac? Google doesn't seem to turn up any info.

JoeFred-

A friend of mine in Louisville is origionally from PA, and he has told me that there are trout and smallies in the Susquehanna River west(?) of Harrisburg in the hills. He went up there last fall to visit his son & family, and fished the river in various places. He didn't tell me where he was, but it sounded like it was one of his "honey holes" that he wasn't going to divulge.

Could be that poster in CB may have been true, and not just decorative art. Is there a "Fly Fishing in Pennsylvania" book similar to ones that have been written about other states? Might have some info on this subject.

Bill

Yes, there is trout fishing in the Susquehanna in western PA. This includes some of the tributaries as well. Part of the problem is, the so-called angling clubs actually own the sections of the streams, including the stream bottoms, that hold the best trout populations.

The last time I fished the Susquehanna was near Harrisburg and that was 7 or 8 years ago...before I got into fly fishing. There were tons of smallmouth there and it was a blast to fish.

I haven't been back to fish it since I moved back up north, but from what I've read on other forums, the smallmouth population has really fallen on hard times. I want to go check it out for myself one of these days soon, but it hasn't sounded too promising...

Accomac is just across the river from Marietta, PA. Popular area for smallmouth fishing.
