Visiting the Back 40 of Corbo's backyard

I just didn't get my fill on Wednesday and had to go back for some more.

After having to cancel my backcountry plans this weekend due to my wife's grandmother being sick, I scored a hall pass for Sunday. My buddy Trey joined me today, and we headed into the unspoiled wilderness for an adventure.

I was a little surprised to see this today. I guess everything will continue to be early this year




We hiked to the "end of the trail" and crossed the creek and headed into a slice of heaven.

I don't know why you guys want the first fish pic, but here you go. I snagged him before Trey even got his soles changed and rigged up.



I was working alot of sweet water and was coming up empty handed in 3 out of 4 pools. Was it the full moon? Was it the water being a bit high? I don't know but it was definately slower than 3 days before.

The fish that were brought to hand were some nice ones though

This next Brookie did the craziest thing. He said, "Thanks 2 weight for reminding ducky to wet his hands" I was shocked!

Brookie of the Day #1 - Another 9er



While this day wasn't producing quanity, it sure was producing some quality

I'm bring home a baby bumble bee - it was in my trouts belly



This one was just so pretty, I had to show you a picture



And then I scored Brookie of the Day #2 - 3 over 9 in a week - that's pretty sweet



My day ended as I searched for the elusive manway to avoid walking the stream back down. After finally finding it, I once again got lost in the same 2 spots I ALWAYS seem to get lost in. This time it was Trey instead of Crockett with the second set of eyes to get us back on track. Trey seemed to be unsure we were even following a trail at many points, and unless you were in the rhodo tunnel you had to rely on looking for spots over logs people had stepped on for years or use broken branches to navigate and search for clues as to the path it took. It always adds to the adventure at the end of the day, and once again we made it out just fine. Back at the parking lot I talked to an Ohio couple who had been fishing. The wife had caught her first Brookie up ther today. I wonder if she'll be as "hooked" as I am

Yep! I see them in the rainbows all the time. I don't think I have ever found them in a Brookie, although I haven't cut open all that many Brookies

Great report duckyp and I remember that manway. There is something about going so far up a wild stream like that and getting worn out that doesn't make me want to have to take the stream all the way back either. As long as there is some open area without rhodo or a manway I usually try to get back down out of the stream. Yesterday I had a nice trail to take me back out. I fished one of your old early haunts where peg leg falls used to be. Lots of nice brookies and I used the DP rig (what I call your setup) worked like a charm. 8 out of 10 on the dropper but a few on the dry here and there.

I think fish guts pictures need to be a new staple for trip reports! I wish JayB had taken a picture of the giant moth or hummingbird or whatever that was in a rainbow from yesterday. It was almost as big as he was!

I would be surprised to find a moth in a fish. I have seen bluegill snag one and then spit it out. BTW, what is the pink fly?
