From a couple of other pics that I took, I determined that he measured just shy of 10". Now to hopefully catch a few more the next time out...

Without bluegill I suspect that many of us who did not grow up near a trout stream would never have discovered fly fishing. They are awesome.

great fish!! I love to fish for smallmouth and gills on the new river. I bumped into this thread way late, but I was also wondering about the weight of your finesse rod?? I have a 2 weight, and I am a big fan of TFO rods. Thanks.
