Default Cosby Next weekend

I will be camping next weekend at Cosby. Does anyone have any advice or guidance for Fly fishing in this area?

I would practice your Bow & Arrow cast

Lots of fish - but they work you to get to them

I have fished CC many times - I have a cabin right near it.

First of all, any sort of white dry fly will catch fish.

But it is definitely a bramble. You have to fight your way up that creek all the way. I generally just stay in the creek and hike up, hugging branches on the side of the creek.

I've never snagged any fish much longer than 6 or 7 inches. I suspect there's not enough food in the stream to support anything bigger.

I guess CC is representative of my bigger frustration overall with the Smokies - the waters are hard to fish, and the fishies are teeny tiny for the most part.

I fished in the Rockies last week in a stream not much bigger than Cosby Creek (but a lot more fishable), and everything was from 10 inches to 13 inches long. Nice, meaty browns and bows.

RagingBull, Thanks for asking the question I've been contemplating for awhile now.
The wife an I will be staying at Cosby beginning June 24. It was her choice to stay there after she saw some pictures online she said it reminded her of some of the places we used to stay at.
It won't be the only place I fish that week but because of its convienence I will probably fish it at least once a day.

You'll find a pink "Barbie" or some other nymph fly will produce larger rainbows...... add a little weight.....Works for me....... if you are not interested in eating them please return them gently to the water. I'm going back again soon !!
Thanks and Good luck
