Tying Challenge: Week 4

I see Walter often on my way to work. Since I haven't the "Vise" yet, I asked if he would participate on the thread. Walter will be the last person to own a computer or cell phone so I asked if he would allow me to assist. He was excited and I will do my best to photograph and post.

Thread: 8/0 olive
Tail: Pheasant Tail Fibers
Abdomen: Olive Goose Biot
Thorax: peacock herl
collar: partridge

I normally tie this pattern with a much shorter wing (about half of what I did for this one) so it looks like the wing is just starting to emerge but this one kind of got away from me. This pattern is my favorite for tough fish in smooth water...

Here's a couple that I tie, good thing about this challenge besides getting some good ideas, is I'm filling up empty spots in my boxes.

I pulled an old ragged one out of my box and photographed it. Nothing special, just an old school BWO Catskill tie. Some nice looking flies this week. I catch most of my flies during this hatch on PT nymphs and wet flies any way.



Hook: TMC 100 sz 16-18 ( if I tie smaller than an 18 I use a 101 with a straight eye)
