With the hot weather we are having, I headed up to about 5000 feet today and decided to chase some brook trout. The air was 73 degrees at 10 am and the water was ice cold and flowing nicely.
The action was pretty decent all day. I fished a dry/dropper with most fish hitting the dropper, the old faithful #16 gray BHHE birdsnest. . Here are a few pics to share. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() The brooks were pretty but the males are not in their best dressed yet, should be getting really colored up in 6 weeks or so. It was a fun day and I caught a lot of brooks, most were smallish, but there were a few decent ones caught.

Catching Speckled Trout never gets old does it?
Caught about 20 last weekend - had to walk behind a bear that wouldn't get off the trail for about 1/4 of a mile walking in. |

Beautiful specks. Those last two are some pigs. Were they the largest of the day?

IF4WT;
Thank You - for a great post!! Here at the Hiwassee and for some of the Tellico tributaries the water has been warm and very skinny. Knowing what it takes to get the pics you've shared I am compelled by your posts for another trip this weekend. Obviously they're out there. Met with W. Babb this morning and took careful notes for another journey that I hope leads to similar success as yours. Breck |
