This Mountain Lion was "claimed" to have been found in my grandparents neighborhood in Harriman, TN. Just found out from doghaircaddis that it is infact fake.

As much and as often as that pic gets reused and re purposed, I'm starting to think there is just one mountain lion in the world and that's his picture. He does travel a lot.

I think that is the same mountain lion spotted on a "grassy knoll" in Dallas on a fateful day in 1963.

Back in the 80s I went through a spell where all I wanted to do was kill cats. Made a dozen or so trips to places like CO, NM and ID to hunt those things. Killed a few, including one with a 40 caliber Tennessee longrifle, but that's another story.
I am very much of the opinion that if there is a single big cat in our part of the world that it has been treed many times by coon hunters. Coon hounds instinctively run big cats, and cats rarely go far before getting up a tree. It does not take much of a dog to put a cat up a tree. If you tree one, make a good shot. A 140 pound cat knocked from a tree can be nasty critter on the ground amidst a bunch of ginned up dogs. |
