Default little river and tremont 4/13

I did not go to fish, but rather to hike with the kids...Of course we walked paths along the rivers and talked to every fisherman we saw. Common census was the fish were not biting. We were up at elkmont from 9 30 to 12 30, saw 2 stone flies...not a single mayfly. Arrived at Tremont around 1 and stayed till 2 30, still no mayflies, and very few stones. Also, not a single morel mushroom. No flies, no shrooms, what a strange spring!

Even stranger... Three times up at tremont this week, mayflies hatching and only about one-three fish per trip. Today was kinda different because I was focusing on teaching someone who had never fished how to cast a fly rod but it was still very slow considering the amount of bugs coming off the water. I think the cold snap kinda threw the fish off maybe or something. Up at the chimneys picnic area the water was only 48, at tremont it was 53.
