Default Another round of big gills

So I hit my favorite pond for some big bluegill this evening and I would say that it was indeed a good decision...

With more rain on the way the fish were sure stirred up due to the changing weather. I continued to fish through the light rain and connected with close to a dozen big fat gills in the process. I would say that getting wet was well worth it...

A fat gill typical for this pond. They sure are a lot of fun...

Nice, it is surprisingly amazing how hard blue gills fight on a fly rod.

Pound for pound nothing fights like a big blue gill. I love to fish for them bug suckers any chance I get. Just curious what weight rod did you choose to use. I normally fish my 3 or 4 wt in Alabama and big gills are a good fight on them

I know the term "slab" goes with crappie, but still, that is a slab. I think this is bigger than the one you posted last year. Wow!

I have been trying to determine that as well but I think you may be right...
I believe it would be a safe bet to say that this one definitely weighed more. It sure was thick!!
Also, keep in mind that the rod is a TFO 7'9" 5wt paired with a CFO II for size reference.
It was indeed a slab as you said...

Was this from the golf course pond? Need an accomplice to sneak in with you?
